Nothing to download, nothing to update, no install prompt before you can see anyone. You are also not handing a permanent app your contacts, your notifications, or a background process.

Safari, Chrome or desktop — one product, one version. There is no separate build to hunt for, and no situation where the version you can get is behind someone else’s.

Honest about the trade-off

Push notifications with the tab closed are weaker than an installed app’s, and mobile browsers suspend background tabs aggressively. Video quality is not part of the trade: browsers have had the same real-time media capability as apps for years. Your connection is the limit, not the container.

Three modes are three separate queues

Video, voice and text are not three settings on one queue — they are three different queues. Whoever you are matched with chose the same one you did, which is why nobody is put in front of a camera they did not plan to turn on.

What happens after you press start

That decides which queue you are in.

Permission on connect

Your device is asked only when a video match is connecting — not when the page loads. No reason to ask for your camera while you are still reading.

Connected at the first frame

The conversation counts as connected when the first video frame actually arrives. A connection that never produced a picture is not a call you had.

One tap, same queue

Ending a conversation puts you straight back in the queue you were in. No start screen, no re-picking your mode.

Camera permission, and why iPhone is different

Browsers track camera access in three states, not two. Most people assume it is a yes/no switch, so when nothing happens they think the site is broken. Once you have refused, the browser stops asking — the only way back is through settings.

Safari on iOS will not tell a page what your permission state is

On other browsers we can check and skip ahead. On iPhone we cannot — so the page explains why the camera is needed, then asks. That is not a bug; it is the only behaviour available when the state cannot be read.

What is free, and when coins start

You start with free matches. Video and voice draw on those and then on coins, and the page shows what is left before anything is spent. Text does not consume the free video and voice allowance, and free matches top up again over time.

Questions people ask

Do I have to install anything?: No. It is a web page.
Will the camera work in Safari?: Yes. Safari shows its own permission box when a video match connects.
Why did it ask about my camera again?: On iPhone the page cannot read your current permission state, so it explains and asks rather than guessing.
Nothing happens when I press start: Almost always camera permission refused earlier. Reloading alone will not undo it — the setting has to change.
Can I use it without a camera?: Yes. Start in voice or text and no camera is requested.
Does it cost anything to try?: Free matches to start. Video and voice then draw on coins.
